How can I send my SAT scores to colleges?

 Sending your SAT scores to colleges is a straightforward process. Here are the steps you need to follow:

During Registration

  1. Free Score Reports: When you register for the SAT, you can send up to four free score reports to colleges or scholarship programs. This must be done within nine days of taking the test.

After Taking the SAT

  1. Log in to Your College Board Account: Go to the College Board website and log in to your account.
  2. Send Additional Score Reports:
    • Go to the “Send Scores” section.
    • Select the colleges or scholarship programs you want to send your scores to.
    • Pay a fee for each additional score report. As of my knowledge cutoff date in 2023, the fee is $12 per report. Be sure to check the College Board website for the most current pricing.

Score Choice Option

  1. Score Choice: You can choose which scores to send by test date for the SAT and by individual test for SAT Subject Tests. This is helpful if you want to showcase your best scores. However, some colleges require you to send all your scores, so be sure to check each college’s requirements.

Sending Scores by Mail

  1. Paper Request Form: If you prefer, you can also send your scores by mailing a paper request form. The form is available on the College Board website, and you will need to include payment and send it to the address specified on the form.

Rush Reporting

  1. Rush Reporting: If you need your scores sent quickly, you can use the rush reporting service for an additional fee. This ensures that your scores are sent to colleges within 1–2 business days.

Confirm Receipt

  1. Verify with Colleges: After sending your scores, it’s a good idea to confirm with the colleges that they have received them. This can typically be done through the college’s admissions office or application portal.
