people looking for spanish language craze has dropped in india

Less Pop-Cultural Buzz than Other Languages

Unlike Korean, which has exploded in popularity thanks to K-pop and Korean dramas, Spanish doesn’t currently have a big ongoing pop-culture trigger drawing young Indians to study it. Earlier, Latin music and dance spurred interest, but that hasn’t sustained a long-term trend like K-pop has.

📚 2. Perceptions of Career Value

Many Indian students prioritise languages seen as professionally advantageous — English (dominant globally), French (useful in diplomacy/business), German (education and jobs in Europe), and now Korean (pop-culture plus corporate demand). While Spanish is valuable globally, many Indians feel it’s less directly linked to clear career opportunities in India or Indian companies. This can dampen long-term student motivation.

🎓 3. Mainstream Education Still Limited

Spanish is still not widely offered in school curricula compared with French or German in many places. Some states like Rajasthan are now expanding options to include Spanish, but that’s a recent move and hasn’t yet translated into explosive demand.

🌍 4. Global Exposure vs Local Priorities

India’s language learning trends often reflect practical global links — English for international careers; Chinese for trade; French for diplomacy; Korean for media culture. Spanish, although one of the world’s most spoken languages, doesn’t have as visible or direct economic ties with India’s core job market for many students, even though the language has global value.

🧠 5. Varied Individual Experiences

Some learners report that after initial enthusiasm they find it hard to stay motivated if they don’t see concrete progress or opportunities, especially without strong cultural or social immersion. Community feedback sometimes mentions feeling “bleak” about future prospects if there are fewer connections or jobs requiring Spanish locally.
